Types of petit fours

A word “petit four” means small oven, a small bite-sized confections that originated in France are ‘Petit fours’. The name also giving presentation of miniature. These are the pastries or confections that is served after a meal, those comes in different varieties. Categorizing into different categories are based on the preparation methods, different, textures as well as different including ingredients.

For important events like birthdays, anniversaries, and other joyous occasions, a petit four is typically prepared. Petits fours are also known as wedding cakes in France where the French word Petit Four means “wedding cake”.

Three main varieties of petit four are Glacé, salé, and sec:
Glacé
These are the tiny cakes that are covered in fondant or icing. Royal icing, chocolate, or crystallized flowers are often used for decorating it. Examples for that include small éclairs and tartlets.
Salé
That is savory bite-sized appetizers which is usually served at cocktail parties or buffets. Salé containing ingredients like cheese, ham, and egg.
Sec
Sec is nothing much complex, as in simple terms these are small biscuits, baked meringues, macarons, and puff pastries which are baked at a low temperature for a long time. Popular examples of Sec are sable beurre, palmiers, duchesses, and macarons.
